Test Frames
The group operates an Instron 3367 dual-column electromechanical test frame (below), capable of applying loads of up to 30 kN in tension or compression. The system is equipped with a range of load cells and gripping fixtures to accommodate a variety of specimen geometries, and is suitable for quasi-static mechanical testing of metals, ceramics, and composites. Tests can be performed under displacement or load control, with data acquisition integrated through the Bluehill software suite. The Instron 3367 is routinely used for tensile testing, compression testing, and three-point bend testing across the group's range of alloy systems.
