I am undertaking a Master's project investigating the short range ordering behaviour of FeNiCr-based high-entropy alloys. By probing both the enthalpic signature of ordering through DSC and the electronic structure through resistivity measurements, this project aims to elucidate this ordering behaviour at the atomic scale. The motivation for this study is to establish ordering as a tuneable parameter in these alloys, allowing for a controlled strength-ductility trade-off, as well as access to the plethora of deformation mechanisms present in semi-ordered metals.
